History
Dodeydra Buddhist School
Dodeydra Buddhist School (also known as Second Tsari) was established by the 13th Je Khenpo Younten Thaye as per the prophecy of Zhingchong Wangmo (patron of Tsari) and Jetsun Milarepa. Accordingly, the Je Khenpo built the Lhakhang at the site of female deity Lodey Zangmo in the Earth Pig Year 1779 corresponding to the 13th Rabjung. At the site, the self-arisen Dorji Phagmo, Dodey Kelzang’s treasure discovery site, and the vessel which has been discovered from the ground floor at the side of the cliff of the Lhakhang can also be seen today. The holy water from the sacred stone and the chorten of Ranjung Kharsapani at the source of the holy water lie at the right side of the Lhakhang. It is considered that drinking holy water can extend one’s life span and increase one’s knowledge. Moreover, it is also believed to accumulate wealth, cleanse the defilements, and taste similar to Tsari water, thereby claiming to be equivalent to that of Tsari water. Beneath the holy water, one can see a long cavernous passage in the basement that makes a distinction between the good and the evil while manoeuvring through it. The Lhakhang built by the 27th Je Khenpo Pema Zangpo and the 17th Je Khenpo Jamyang Gyeltshen can also be seen at the site.
