History
Buddha Dordenma
The Buddha Dordenma is one of the largest Buddha statues in the world which stands at 169 feet (52 m) meters tall constructed at Kuensel Phodrang in 2006. According to the prophecy of Guru Rinpoche, despite 672 years of discovering the treasure by Terton Dorji Lingpa, the moment has not yet come and has been left thereafter. Even Menling Terdag Lingpa of Kurtoe could not discover the treasure despite his visit to Singye Dzong to discover the treasure. However, there has been a written record stating the need to read Buddhist scriptures, Goenpo Tongtshog and Jin Seg 100 times each. Moreover, the renovation of all the Lhakhangs and monasteries in the country, prayers to the local deities and spirits are all said to have were drafted as well, says Lam Tshering Wangdi.
The main relics in the Buddha statue are Zedth-Pa-Chuni (the twelve activities of Buddha), Neten-Chudru (sixteen arhats), Ka-Gong-Phur-Sum (The Eight Pronouncements (Kagye), Abhipraya Samaja (Gongdue) and Vajra Kilaya (Phurpa), Medicine Buddha, Men-Lha-Choeji, Sangay-Rabduen, Guru Tshen-Ged (eight manifestations of Guru Rinpoche), Khor-Sung-Mak-Dok, Drak-Mar, Lhamo-Rig-Gyedthma, Dorji-Phagmo (Vajravarani). Rig-Nyai-Sangay, Kunzang-Yab-Yum (Samantabhadra-Samantabhadri), Tse-Pag-me (Amitayus), Chhen-Ri-Zi (Avalokitesvara), Dorji-Chhang (Vajradhara), De-chok (chakrasaṃvara) and others.
The main sponsors for the construction of statue are Family of Peter Toe and Wamkim Seng, and twelve others. It was officially inaugurated by the 70th Je Khenpo coinciding with the 60th Birth Anniversary of the His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo Jigme Singye Wangchuck.
