History
Lha Dzong Tashigang Monastic School and Meditation Centre
Lha Dzong Trashigang Drubdey was established by 12th Je Khenpo Kuenga Gyeltshen in the year 1768. The inner/sacred object was 11th Je Khenpo’s statue and other important relics. Following the vision from the Lung-Chu-Zey-Kha, and upon reaching the site, he met a man chipping away the pole. When he asked the man what his name was, the man said it was Trashi. As the lam predicted it as a good omen, thus it got the name from it. Above the Lhakhang, the Meto Pelzang Retreat and many other retreats can also be seen.
Shelkar Drupchu
At the right side of the Lhakhang within 5 minutes’ walk, in the middle of the forest, the holy water under the chorten can be seen. While Je Kuenga Jatsho was going for a recess, he has forgotten to bring his beads. As he went back to bring the beads, it turned into holy water and thus, it was named as Shelkar Drupchu. Those who are fortunate and lucky can see male and female white crystals for real. It is believed that drinking the holy water can heal wounds in our body. From Lhakhang to Lung Chu Zey, it takes about two hours on foot. Before reaching the Lung Chu Zey, at the Darkarla side one can also see the large cave of Dorji Phagmo’s sacred place, as said by Lopen Kado.
La Tsho of Lam
La Tsho of Je Kuenga Jatsho can be spotted at the end of the Lhakhang. According to the Tobgay (Principal of the Lhakhang), it is said that the La Tsho was once dried, however, it emerged again after the rebirth of Je Kuenga Gyeltshen. Moreover, the Kudung Chorten of the 18th Je Jamyang Gyeltsen can be also seen in front of the Lhakhang.
