History
The second Trongsa Penlop, Sonam Lhundup (also a Lam) had a small retinue of students and even before they were formally enrolled into the sangha, he had completed constructing a monastery for them at Taktse in 1680. To consecrate the newly built temple, the second Je Khenpo Sonam Ozer (r. 1672-1680) was invited from Punakha. On reaching Sakarchew, above Tangsibji, Je Khenpo looked towards Taktse where he was heading for the rabney. In his vision, he saw 16 arhats already hovering over the temple and performing the consecration ceremony from the sky. Other ordinary people saw 16 vultures hovering over the Taktse temple. Therefore, Taktse Sanga Choeling Lhakhang is truly a sacred one.
