History

The palace was built in 1839 by Trongsa Penlop Ugyen Phuntsho as per the Terton Pema Lingpa’s prophecy for the future to be flourished with his teachings. The bodily remains of the Great Treasure discoverer was brought from Kheng Tama to be installed in Yudrung Choeling Palace after keeping it in hiding for 180 years. Numerous miracles and an auspicious sign such as rainbows, rain of flowers and ritualistic sounds were witnessed and heard while setting the relic in the Dzong. In 2009, a Dratshang has been established under the guidance and wisdom of His Majesty the King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck to conduct daily offerings to the significant relic. The Dratshang conduct annual tshechu in 11th month of the Bhutanese calendar. Offerings/rituals are carried out every auspicious days.
