Chari Meditation Centre
Chari Drubdey (Meditation Centre) was founded by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyel as prophesied by Guru Rinpoche as, “The life fortress Drukpa will be founded between the two rivers,” and will be the first religious community in the Iron Monkey Year 1620 corresponding to the 10th Rabjung. The Centre is located about an hour walk from the road point and stands amid triangular site with the sky in the middle of the standing heart like a mountain ridge. The monastery was the special meditation centre for Yeshi Goenpo. Guru Rinpoche and Phajo Drugom Zhipo visited there. Later Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyel who meditated there for three years. Furthermore, with support from Her Late Grand Queen Mother Ashi Phuntsho Choden Wangchuck, the 65th Chief Abbot Yeshey Singye then established the retreat centre in 1967.
