History

From Khothangkha Dolangdo, it takes one hour’s drive to reach the Dechen Draphu. It is considered one of the four crags of Guru Rimpoche. Phajo Drukgom Zhigpo who came to Bhutan in the 4th Rabjung visited it and meditated here during which he had a vision of the mandala of the eight precepts and received indication from intermediate space that his teachings will flourish in this land.

In Phajo’s biography, “The Current of Compassion”, 1999, p. 47, it is written:
“Then he went to Shar Khothang Dechen Drak, the mandala of the eight percepts appeared, received the supreme blessing, subdue the spirit, Tsen Moklap. His rosary string snapped and beads spread in all 10 directions which made him confused and worried. From the intermediate space, an invisible voice praised not to worry and that it signifies the propagation of his doctrine in this southern land. He was to take up the heroic taming nature to bring all the heretical forces under his control”.

The same is being said in “Lhoi Chhoejung Throthue Jamgoen Menthai Threngwa”, 2004, p. 17.
