History

‘Serzhong Lhakhang,’ Dongag Kuenzang Choeling Gonpa is located at a village called Serzhong under Serzhong Chiwog, about two hours walk or ten minutes’ drive from Gelephu Thromde. The Goenpa stands majestically on the hill, overlooking the Serzhong gewog and Gelephu town.Serzhong Lhakhang was built approximately in 1977. It was built in order to bring peace and order in the village, more over to prevent the villages from disease and famine. The main nangten (treasure) in the Lhakhang is the statue of Guru, Tenpa ,Kuenkhen Longchen Rabjam & 3D Statue at the walls.

The place was prophesied by Polo Khen Rinpoche Kinga Gyeltshen.
Every year coinciding with the Descending Day of Lord Buddha (22nd day of 9th month according to lunar calendar), the Lhakhang celebrates its foundation day and hosts tshechu for a day.
