History
The great scholar and Kuenkhen Longchen Rabjam built a small temple at the present site in the 14th century and his son Drakpa Wezer expanded it to meditation Centre. Later, Trulku Chokden Goenpo (1497-1557) a disciple of Terton Pema Lingpa (1450-1521) who was also reincarnation of Terton Dorji Lingpa built the present structure and statues.
Great masters like Dubthop Thangtong Gyalpo, Kuenkhen Longchen, Terton Dorji Lingpa, Terton Pema Lingpa, son of Kuenkhen Longchen, all sons of Pema Lingpa, all reincarnations of Pema Lingpa, Thuksey Dawa and Gangteng Trulku, Petsheling Trulku and many great masters resided in this temple.
It is a one-stored temple located about 47 km away from Trongsa town towards Zhemgang on the Trongsa-Gelephu Highway.
Five large prayer wheels (Vajra Guru, one Buddha Amitabha, two Mani and one Long Life) were installed by Lam Tashi Wangdi from this village. Paintings on the walls include the Chab Goen Ngawang Namgyel, the 42nd Je Khenpo Thinley Gyeltshen (1886 – 1888), the Eight Manifestations of Guru Rinpoche, the four harmonious friends, the Six Symbols of Longevity and local deities.
The temple is looked after by the Langthil community, and several rituals and events take place at the temple each year.
