History

At the entrance of the Thadrak Goenpa, we see Drubthob Thangthong Gyalpo’s kitchen. Tsang Khenchen Jamyang Pelden Singye also travelled via the old Chapcha Dzong and stayed in meditation at the base of the holy Thadrak. It was here that Tsang Khenchen hand wrote the 16 volumes of sutra which are today, the main inner relics of Rinthangkha Lhakhang.

In those days, this whole area was called Rigtha. Deriving from this name, the temple was named Thadrak Goenpa. Villages are also called Thadrak Phakha and Thadrak Tshukha.
