History
It is one of the Nyingma monasteries in Bhutan constructed by Lam Sonam Zangpo in 1942. Later Lam Sonam Zangpo handed over to late Lam Karpo Tshewang Paljor under the guidance of Chabje Djdjom Jigdrel Yeshey Dorji. The monastery is very sacred to the Bhutanese citizen because of main statue is Lhasa Jowo. People need not have to travel to Lhasa to get the blessings from the statue. In order to make it more convenient for people to get the blessing from the statue, Trashigang Dzongpoen Sey Dopola as a main patron initiated to construct a Lhakhang as a main seat for Jowo. Which is exactly the same size as that of Tibet. Later, under the guidance of His Holiness Chabje Dudjom Rinpoche had appointed Togden Lam Karpo as the Lam of the monastery. Thereafter, the lineage passes down to now Where Lam Karpo’s son Jigme Tenzin looks over the monastery.
